Energy fuelled holidays are becoming increasingly popular amongst a wide range of different age groups. Typically the choice of young twenty-some things looking to burn off their excesses of energy the activity holiday industry is experiencing a growth in clientele from the older demographics. As people are becoming increasingly knowledgeable about the benefits of eating well and exercising the number of people choosing to take their break hiking, climbing or embarking on high octane pursuits are beginning to rival the numbers that head to the beaches to lard themselves up and worship the sun god and the sangria.

The major benefit of going on an activity break is that it is rarely dependent on the type of weather you experience. For this reason activity breaks are not as seasonal as alternative breaks such as skiing holidays or beach holidays. Regardless of the weather you will be able to enjoy activities such as hiking, mountain biking and quad biking. Indeed in many circumstances the worse the weather the more fun you can have! Have you ever tried water skiing in the rain or summer skiing in the sun, or what about Parapenting in the wind?

There are an enormous range of activities available that meet the wide range of abilities that deliver a variety of levels of excitement. If you are a water baby why not consider water skiing, sailing, hydro speeding or white water rafting. Perhaps you might want to experience the excitement of climbing, abseiling, via ferrata or canyoning all of which incorporate upper and lower body exercise. Entire holidays can be based around traditional activities such as horse riding, mountain biking and golf each of which can be catered to suit the abilities of the participants. It is also possible to experience off-road 4x4 driving on your activity holiday and this can be pursued to many levels of skill. The providers welcome beginners but also if you are looking to improve your ability over a week or two then the difficulty level will be changed in accordance to your ability.

Sailing has long been the activity of choice for the post twenties clientele. Typically this has been because it can be quite expensive for the younger audience but it is also a great choice for the older audience as it provides a great opportunity to experience the excitement of an activity holiday regardless of the level of experience of the participant. It also offers a fantastic opportunity to socialise with like-minded people. The type of sailing you experience will depend greatly on whether you are sailing on a lake or in the sea. Large lakes provide a fantastic option for those wishing to sail small boats or windsurf. They enable you to learn without the dangers or difficulties of strong tides or offshore wind. Places that provide the opportunity to sail on a lake will often also deliver the chance to windsurf or canoe.

One of the most successful regions in the world that provides activity holidays is the Alps. The Alps provides an enormous range and variety of options for activity holidays. The variety of scenery and geographical formations in this region of the world make for a special holiday. The Alps can provide an enormous variety of activities within a small distance to travel. Lakes, Mountains and forests are all very close to one another which mean the visitor can experience them all with very little hassle. Many tourist chalets are placed in prime places to benefit from all of these natural delights without the need for a vehicle. This can be a great option for people that are looking for an escape from the hustle of working like and that want to experience the great outdoors.
