Do any of the following sentences sound familiar? "I shall start my new diet the first thing tomorrow and will lose weight by the end of this month". "I shall begin to save more money each month, starting next month"."I shall write my marketing plan next week". If these sentences sound like your words, it's because most of us use them consciously or unconsciously in our daily lives. We indulge in the act of procrastination.

To quote bestselling author and coach Peter F. Drucker, "The best way to predict the future is to create it". Your destiny is in your own hands, but only if you take control of it for yourself. Too many times do we allow others to dictate what we should or should not be doing. Perhaps your parents recommended a career path for you; perhaps your husband or wife is unsupportive of you starting a new business. And with each layer of pressure and negative support, you get further weighed down.

We can and in fact, should read blogs, invest in books, courses and seminars and build our knowledge; but unless we act on this knowledge, now and in the immediate, we cannot and will not change our future. Our financial freedom and success including our goals and dreams all depend on us taking action immediately. By taking this first step, you begin on the path to achieving something you set out to do. This small step will build momentum and push you forward.

Building a profitable career and a profitable future not only requires immediate action, but also careful planning. One of the first things to consider is 'what makes you happy'. Most of us find our work daunting. We do it because we have to. And we find excuses to put off what needs to get done; we have no time today; we are tired; there are other priorities. The list can be endless. 'The more I want to get something done, the less I call it work'; says Richard Bach, author of the famous-Start Late and Grow Rich bestseller. Find something you really want and really feel passionate about. This is what you need to get you started. Taking immediate action does not seem frightening if you're doing it for something you love.

Additionally, build a list of goals and write them down on paper. By placing this list somewhere you can see it, it becomes a stronger motivational factor. Visualization is a technique which most successful people use to help them see their future. In order to live the future, you need to know exactly what it will be like. And this is where visualization comes in. Feel, breath and see your destiny. You need to know that it's you who is now in control of it. There is no one coming to bail you out. And likewise, realize that there is no one you can assign the blame to either. Taking responsibility for your actions is important. If the business you set up failed, if you were sidestepped for the promotion you really wanted; then it's still up to you to get up, dust yourself off and try again.

Gain as much knowledge about subjects such as finance, investment, savings and debt as you can. It's incredible how many women, even those who run their own businesses will leave their financial dealings to someone else. By knowing how much you have, how much you owe and how much you can make, you are already halfway through to securing your financial future.

And finally, realize that time will pass you by, even quicker than you had anticipated. You will get caught up in the day to day happenings of your life till one day you will wake up and realize it's too late to achieve what you really wanted and should have done.
So start planning and acting on those plans, today. Build your dreams, shape your destiny and create a successful future for you and your family.
