Like most people I have my days of feeling like I am in dire need of a break away, this does not mean an expensive holiday abroad, but simply a change of scenery without having to travel too far for some time out and much needed relaxation. Flicking through travel magazines and researching on the internet I have found that there are plenty of idyllic places in England, some even closer to home, which are just waiting to be discovered by us locals who are unfortunately unable to afford anything else.
One of my favourite places for a leisure break is in the wild countryside of Suffolk. Unusual as this might seem, this is in fact most popular amongst couples and families. Taking a leisure break in Suffolk is ideal for people who are more accustomed to the hustle and bustle of city life. A short break in the countryside can be just as rejuvenating as taking a short break in an exotic beach resort.
If for instance you choose to take a break in Suffolk then there are a few places that simply cannot be missed, such as the long scenic walks in the Suffolk coast and heaths. There are three long distance walking opportunities, to which the visitor will have the opportunity to get to know Suffolk better as well as enjoy the hilly views. These long distance trails are designed to take you through the most characteristic landscapes and provide you with an ideal way to discover the true beauty of Suffolk. One popular path to take is The Suffolk Coast Path which is approximately a 50 mile walk from Felixstowe to Lowestoft. The walk comes in easy stages and also links up with the Stour and Orwell Walk.
Those who prefer to relax on a short break and just take in the views, Waldringfield and Debden Estuary circular walk will make for an ideal choice. The walk is easier than the Suffolk Coast Path, giving the individual an opportunity to experience the peace and tranquillity this coastal area has to offer. Certain parts of the walk will prove to be a little difficult due to the slippery surface and wetlands that you will come across, however the abundant arable land that surrounds this walk is sure to make up for this.
What would a leisure break in Suffolk be without a short visit to the historical Clare Castle? Suffolk is filled with tall periodic buildings and one of the places that many people choose to visit is Clare Castle, situated in the small town of Clare. Even though this is actually a ruin, with all that remains is a wide area of space and a ruined tower sitting at the top of the hill, it was then made into a country park to which people can visit the ruins and learn more about its history, whilst enjoying a quiet walk through the countryside and come across its wildlife.
In essence Suffolk is a historical escape away that will give the visitor plenty of quiet time. Taking a leisure break in Suffolk is not an expensive venture and if one is travelling on a budget, then this is the perfect place to participate in interesting activities that will not cost a thing! Another advantage is that it gives the person some time away from their normal life and gain an opportunity to experience something different. Accommodation are affordable, but this does depend on where they are located; however this could also be a good spot for some camping fun if one is more enticed by the idea of getting closer to nature!
Anna Stenning loves to go on a leisure break Suffolk being her first choice of location.
