Probably, you are starting to doubt whether this article is really about dating or religion. Don't worry. You are not on the wrong page. And yes, you read the title right. Dating has commandments to follow too. Like everything else (states have laws, religions have covenants,) there are also few rules to follow when going on a date.

These "commandments" were imbibed to our teenage minds few years ago, but since you did not practice them for quite a long time (maybe, you had someone who kept your heart busy for years, and then broke it, leaving you on the "search" again), you are left anxious on how to deal with dates again.

Thou Shall Look Best at All Times

Always remember. First impression lasts. And when that first impact makes a really good outcome, it is imperative to maintain the momentum. Don't wear the best clothes at your first date, and then wear rugs on the succeeding ones. Be consistent! And when you say "thou shall look best at all times," it doesn't only calls for looking good in terms of the make-up or the clothes, look good on how you act and speak as well.

The word "look" is compounded to everything that your date sees in you, it maybe your clothes, or your language. It may even be the manner how you treat the waiter, or how you use the fork. Maintain proper decorum inside and out -- and maintain it!

Thou Shall Be Generous on Giving Compliments

Okay. You may be on a slim budget and you plan every expense up to the last cent, but don't be frugal also when it comes to giving out compliments to your date. In dating, remember it is very important to show that you appreciate your date. You don't have to lie and admire the things you hate. Start on small things like the shoes, or the watch. Just say it and don't hold it back!

Thou Shall Not Be Boring

A sure way to end a date right away is to be boring. Nothing beats that! And you are on a sure way to singlehood for the rest of your life. While dating, be interesting. Maintain that energy that drives your date to come with you in the first place. And in return, be interested to your date as well.

Don't be too narcissistic that everything you talk about in the entire length of your date is about you and you alone! Have moments to show that you want to know something about your date as well. Just don't be too probing that you're already acting like a paparazzi or a showbiz reporter.

Thou Shall Be Mysterious

This comes in conjunction to the previous commandment. In the course of your pursuit of being interesting, you realized you already told everything about yourself from your childbirth to your imagined-future. And suddenly, your date becomes uninterested anymore. Well, you cannot blame your date. There's nothing interesting anymore since you already lay-out the entire blueprint of your life!

Hold some information for yourself and for your date to find out. With this, your date will be eager to have a second dinner or lunch-out with you. Just remember not to exaggerate being mysterious. Don't feel you're a spy agent, or else your date may start to think that either you're really a federal agent and shouldn't be dated anymore, or you're a crazy patient that should be put to an asylum.

Thou Shall Not Be Pretentious

The number one mistake that is frequently committed during the first date is that one of the two people on that dinner table is telling things he or she is really not. Lying is really bad, especially when done on the first date. Because when you pretend that you're someone you're really not, everything else that will follow will be all about lies and make-up stories. It is a domino-effect.

And when you finally decide to tell the truth, you'll discover that the relationship you made is grounded on deceit and that it's already too broken to be fixed. Plus, consider how your date will feel if he or she will discover what you've done. Would you want to be lied to? Don't do unto other what you don't want done unto you. Nothing more, nothing less.

These may be just the basics with regards to dating. But always be sure to follow them so that everything will be smooth and easy. It is up for you if these dating rules aren't enough and you want to add more. Just remember what the religious people from the church teach us: follow the commandments, and be good at all times.
