Build Momentum with Your Affiliate Downline

Momentum is a requirement in the success of affiliate marketing businesses. The problem we most often see is that business doesn't always follow a downhill curve. You have to push to achieve your goals in any business opportunity.

Once you've achieved your first goal, set another, then another. Once you get the ball rolling, tilt the slope! Never stop or slow down or your business will begin to lose precious momentum.

The Good and Bad of Exponential Growth

Exponential growth means the number of downline members you can have is unlimited. But can you effectively give them the support they require to succeed? Just because you "can" have thousands in your direct downline doesn't mean you should start with that many. Don't take on more than you can effectively train and support.

Growing your affiliate marketing business online is simple. Set up a lead generation page, direct traffic to it and encourage people to sign up. It really is that simple. But where do your leads go after they sign up? Do you provide training for each and every individual person in your direct downline?

Quality over Quantity

Affiliate marketing businesses are based on people and communication skills. Teach your downline how to effectively recruit people who are already motivated to make a change in their lives. Motivated people will build their affiliate business more quickly than those who look at it as a hobby.

Speed Isn't Everything

One of the most important things your affiliate downline needs to understand is to take it slow. Although their business will grow quickly, speed isn't everything. Success can't be achieved over night and they need to rely on you for proper training techniques before recruiting.

Although momentum is required for the success of any online business, it is important that your business grow in a more controlled atmosphere. Lead by example and show your downline that their success is important to you. Provide charts to show the growth patterns of your business and explain how they can achieve the same.

You know the old adage, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink." The same is true with your affiliate downline. You can lead by example and show them what it takes to succeed, but you can't do it for them.

Make sure your recruits understand that they need to find their own motivation and openly communicate with you. They need to know that you can help them in a variety of ways, but you aren't going to hold their hand every step of the way. Communication is a key aspect of the upline and downline relationship.

Promotional Tools

Your affiliate sponsor will share specific tools of the trade with you. Personalize those tools and share them with your downline affiliates. Show them how to make the most of the promotional tools you offer.

Ask your downline to recommend marketing and promotional ideas from time to time. Collaboration and allowing them a more hands-on approach to their business will ultimately bring new ideas to light. They may have a great marketing idea, but lack the full understanding of how to put their idea into play.

Show your downline affiliates that you're serious about their business as well as theirs. Be there for them to ask questions and reply to them within 24 hours. A prompt reply will help set your business relationship in stone and make them realize that you are a competent business partner.

Allow your downline affiliates to speak openly and honestly without taking offense to what they're saying. If they feel you could improve on your leadership style, give it serious thought and show them you're willing to grow along with them. Don't make the mistake of bending to their every whim, but work with them to make them more comfortable.

Take downline affiliate feedback to heart. When they ask for your guidance, lend it with a smile and an understanding that you are helping grow their business. When their success mirrors your past success, proudly show them that they have achieved. Let them know you're paying attention, even when they don't realize it.
