Today, you may find yourself in an authority position in your affiliate program. You are earning decent income or are well on your way to that end. You have a downline, which continues to grow. Now is the time for you to get "calling." Those calls and e-mails are to your downline team. You are at the coaching stage of your affiliate-marketing career.

Building your income faster will depend on your effectiveness as a coach. As you build your skills in this discipline, you will discourage downline attrition. You will also put part of your affiliate business on autopilot. Other people will be doing some of your work for you. This is to their and your benefit. It's the beauty of a synergistic relationship in affiliate marketing.

Know They Have to Allow Time for Mistakes

The best coaches know that stumbles and falls, figuratively speaking, are not world ending. They know there is a learning curve to becoming proficient at new tasks. This is no different in affiliate marketing.

Consider article writing as part of an article marketing initiative. Some of your downline may not know about article marketing. You will have to explain, train, and probably re-explain this marketing tool. Neophyte members of your team may write mediocre articles at first. Have patience, and teach them how to create compelling content. Allow them to learn from mistakes. They will eventually grasp the mechanics of the process.

Know When to Not Pull Punches

The best coaches know when they need to be tough and tell it like it is to spur action. As an affiliate marketing coach, you may not necessarily get tough. After all, affiliate membership is a free choice and involves personal responsibility. However, you will have to tell it like it is at times.

This is when you hear complaints and grumblings from downline members. They may take issue with you on the fact that they are not earning any significant income. This is when you question them on their marketing efforts. What happens if you find that they have no real marketing efforts?

Know They Must Sacrifice Themselves for the Team

Sometimes you have to do the things you don't feel like doing as a coach. You're busy and have your affiliate business and other duties to attend to each day. You know that you must devote time to an extra training session for your downline. You know you must write up that series of e-mail lessons that you will distribute each week to your downline.

You just don't feel like doing it as its taking way from your personal marketing efforts. Do it anyway. Your downline depends on you and your income will be better for it down the road as well.

Know They Have to Attach One Link at a Time

The best coaches know they cannot fasten a whole chain together at once. They know they must build a chain link by link. What this means is coaching involves teaching one marketing tool at a time. You do not want to overwhelm your new downline members with too much information and training at once.

Teach article writing and article marketing for your first link. Your second link can be a training session on banner ad writing. Link number three can be an involved session on the benefits of pay-per-click advertising. Six months down the road, your downline has a strong arsenal of marketing tools that you taught them one-by-one. Their knowledge chain is strong.

Know They Have to Heed Feedback

Finally, the best coaches know they have to learn from their downline as well as teach them. Sometimes they have to heed feedback even when it hurts. The best coaches never feel they are the consummate know-it-alls. They make errors, those stumbles, and falls as well. They must be willing to make adjustments in their coaching methods.

The best coaches are always learning and always passing on what they learn. They encourage feedback. They take to heart quality advice from their team and institute this advice as appropriate.

Strive to learn and understand what the best coaches know. In doing so, you give your affiliate business the best chance for sustained growth. Your downline, and you, will prosper faster when you coach properly.
