The affiliate program's system can trace a successful sale from the affiliate link that brought the customer to the sales page. This is how the program would know that you have earned a commission.

You don't have to settle for just one affiliate program. You could enroll in as many programs as you'd like. The more affiliate programs you're enrolled in, the more income streams you will be able to establish for yourself. However, just make it a point that you don't promote conflicting products from different programs as this can unduly ruin your credibility as a trustworthy referrer. Remember, you're tasked to pre-sell the products, and this consists of having to convince potential customers to at least visit the affiliate merchant's sales page through your link.
