When you write an engaging article that inspires a reader to take action, you are fulfilling your affiliate marketing responsibility. That responsibility is to get targeted traffic to your affiliate site. When you write an article for distribution across the Internet and in newsletters, you have to get a few points across succinctly. These points have to answer readers' questions or convey new information to them. An interesting article will entertain, educate and inspire as it delivers these points.
An entertaining article gives useful information in a fresh way. It holds readers' interest, which keeps them reading. You want this. You want them to get to the end of the article and say, "This person knows what he's talking about." When they get to the end, they may want to read about you, the author. This is where clicks happen. This is where your engaging article calls the reader to action. That action is a trip down the cyber highway to your website.
An educating article tells a reader something they don't know. It may also tell readers something they do know, differently, to give a new angle on a topic. An article that educates reveals your expertise about your subject. Education leads to action. When your reader knows more about a product or applications for a product, they want to investigate the product more. Because you sell the product as part of an affiliate program, direct them your way to get this additional information. Only an article that educates will send them your way. A person who begins reading an article that doesn't give them anything of value will click away from the article due to boredom.
An inspiring article is one that gives a reader the big "aha!" It is one that tells them that here is great information, clearly written, that I can put to use right now. An inspiring article causes a person to want to explore a subject further to gain even more information. An article that inspires encourages a reader to investigate further what of value you can offer them. This value may be in the form of more information or in the form of the product itself.
If an entertaining, informative, inspiring article gains you an immediate sale, great. It may gain you a potential customer seeking more information and that's great too. This means a relationship is building between you and the reader. This may eventually lead to an affiliate product click and a sale.
Therefore, to engage your readers give them entertaining, educational, inspiring content. Show case relevant, timely information; not you or your product. After they read content that leaves them informed consumers, they'll make the decision as to whether they want to click back to your site. It may be the tenth article of yours they read that does the trick.
The reader is in control of the affiliate relationship. Any hard sell by you gains nothing if your reader does not have their knowledge gap filled by your article content. Readers smell the hard sells blocks away and avoid it when they search for information on the Web. Readers who perform information searches want something they don't have: information from an expert knowledgeable about a subject.
Create informative content for articles that gives knowledge, as related to your affiliate product. Readers will trust that you and your product are worthy of further investigation. They'll click on that article link back to you because they have more knowledge at the end of your article than they did at the beginning of it. They want even more knowledge. They may also want your affiliate product, the whole thrust behind the article they just read.
