The importance and value of coaching is often overlooked in today's corporate and result-driven society. The truth is that training is the cornerstone of success.
A top ranking CEO in a corporation could not have reached his designation had he not been given the proper coaching and development by his previous managers. An advertising guru would most likely have had a solid coaching in the industry to have reached the pinnacle upon which he now sits.
In the non-corporate arena, a world class musician would have needed years and years of solid coaching before stepping into the limelight. Or similarly, an artist would have spent a large chunk of his learning to create art before making a living from it.
Everywhere you look, the impact and the importance of coaching is evident. Unfortunately, the lucrative nature of coaching as a career does not particularly reflect its importance, with many coaches perhaps being underpaid and not earning as much as they should.
The good news is that, if you are a coach, a great way you can make additional money from your career is to expand your business by using the Internet. You will want to get a domain name that is your name (coaches are known by their names first and foremost, not by the company that they run) and set up a Blog on it. By doing so, you open up a whole world of money making opportunities you probably never knew existed.
Here are some of the great benefits of coaching online. Go through them carefully and see how much leverage you can achieve with the Internet:
1. Coach Customers Via E-Mail
In the physical realm, coaching often requires a face-to-face approach, such as training seminars, personal coaching and such. Online, however, you can choose to coaching your clients via e-mail, and sell this coaching "course" on your Blog.
For example, if you were providing management coaching, you could send one e-mail a week to your client. Within the e-mail would be the weekly course on management, covering a particular topic.
Or if you were providing artistic coaching, you could do the same, breaking down the topics just as you would in a class and putting it down in easy to understand words for your clients. The great benefit of this is that you don't have to spend time physically BEING with your client to coach them. There is also practically no overhead costs for you (aside from your Blog maintenance) since e-mail is free to send!
In addition, there is a piece of e-mail software called a Sequential Autoresponder that you can use that will automatically send those lessons out to your clients. You can set the intervals between e-mails to be as many days as you wish. All you need to do is to load up all your separate coaching lessons into the Sequential Autoresponder, and you're done.
When you have a new client, simply subscribe him to the Sequential Autoresponder and he'll start getting Lesson No.1 from that point onward until the entire sequence is exhausted. This is easy to do, and very powerful. Best of all, your client does not know you're using software to help you gain massive leverage!
2. Write E-books
As a coaching, you no doubt have a lot of expertise in your field. A great way to make money from this is by writing an informational e-book on your field and selling it on your website.
This can be as easy as compiling all or some your e-mail courses (as above) into a digitally formatted book and selling it on your website. Plenty of people would be willing to pay for an effective coaching e-book that costs a fraction of what it would it would costs to go to a coach in person.
3. Train customers from all over the world
The great thing about the Internet is that it can reach out to people all over the world. And since you can coach people using digital mediums, you don't have to limit your clients to those in your vicinity - you can coach people from all over the world!
4. Multiply your efforts
Just like how you can coach more than ONE person in a class, you can do the same on the Internet, except instead of coaching a maximum of just 20 or 30 people at a time, you can coach hundreds of people with virtually no extra effort.
This is because everyone is coached via e-mail - so once you've written ONE e-mail, you can use it over and over again for ALL of your clients. With e-mail personalization that is normally a feature of a Sequential Autoresponder software, you can include your clients' names in the e-mail automatically so that it seems that you are actually giving them a one-on-one training session - but without any extra work on your part!
5. Make a Name for Yourself Online
Over time, as your Blog becomes more and more popular, you will become well known in the Internet community as well as your own chosen field. This is especially so if you use your own name as your domain name!
After some time, people from all over the world will know who you are and what coaching you provide at the Blog sitting at your domain. You may even get invited to give seminars/talks in your country or overseas!
The advantages of working as a coach on the Internet are not limited to the above five - there are plenty more. So if you are a coach who has often thought to yourself that you aren't being paid nearly enough for what you do - then this is your opportunity to make it right.
The Internet is rife with opportunity for coaches. Don't let you or your business get left behind!
