Does your little one cry as you drop her at the day care? Even after you manage to get your kid through the morning errands of brushing, getting dressed, and eating, saying good-bye to your little one at the preschool can be challenging for both of you. That is the time when your toddler may be clinging, crying, and begging not to leave them. Your toddler may be experiencing separation anxiety and it is common.

It is the normal behaviour of a securely attached toddler who thinks that it is a life-threatening separation from her mother. Relax; your kid will be fine and doing well at the Toongabbie child care. Here are a few tips to help your toddler adjust to the preschool.

Follow a morning routine

A week before the school begins, follow a morning routine so that it will help them through the transition from home to child care in Toongabbie. It will help your kid understand what is coming next and how to follow it. Never skip any of the morning routines so your child doesn’t feel rushed and stressed.

Here is a sample routine you could follow to kick off the day with your kid

- Cuddle in bed

- Brush teeth, eat, and get dressed. Prepare the food your little one like to eat and get her dressed with her favourite colours.

- Pack her bags

- Make the trip to school a happy one by telling a rhyme together or remind the story which she wants to tell her teacher.

- Drop your kid at the Toongabbie child care and say a short goodbye.

Do not express your anxiety

A child can tell when her mother is upset, and often will start to fuss. On the other hand, bigger children will not act out, when their parents seem unhappy. So, never express your anxiety in front of your kid, especially when you drop them at the day care. If you show through your facial expression, your kid may assume there is something wrong leaving them. No matter how bad you feel at drop off time, keep smiling and speak positively about how much fun your little one will have at the day care.

Make your kid understand

Your kid may not speak, but still, they could understand. Keep describing what your kid will do at the day care setting, how many friends he is going to get, and the fun they will have.

Follow these to ease your little ones. For some children, good-byes are full of tears, screams, and outbursts. But, after a month you’ll be surprised to learn than that your child is happy going to school.
