For many years people thought coffee was bad for you. Perhaps because it tastes so good, and gives you energy, people just assumed there must be negative health effects. The fact is, taken in moderation, coffee actually has several health effects. Here's some evidence that coffee is so good for you, you'll be inspired to buy coffee beans in bulk.
1. Coffee Helps You Think
There's a reason you always see writers in coffee shops. When drinking coffee, caffeine is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream before traveling to the brain. Once in the brain, the caffeine blocks a neurotransmitter known as Adenosine. This allows other neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and dopamine to increase, which fires up the neurons. In fact, studies have shown that caffeine has positive effects on memory, mood, reaction times, and cognitive function.
2. Coffee Burns Fat
Caffeine is one of the few natural substances shown to aid in the burning of fat. While it's hard to say the degree to which it can burn fat in regular coffee drinkers, there's evidence that coffee increases metabolic levels by 3%-10%, and increases the burning of fat in individuals from between 10% to 29%.
3. Lowers the Risks of Type II Diabetes
Though it is as yet unclear why, studies show that regular coffee drinkers have a reduced risk of developing type II diabetes - in some cases as low as a 23%-50% chance of getting the disease. Whether you drink coffee only occasionally, or buy whole bean coffee in bulk, any amount of coffee drinking seems to make a difference in avoiding diabetes.
4. Fights Neurodegenerative Diseases
In addition to having a healthy diet and exercising regularly, there's evidence that drinking coffee on a regular basis can decrease your chances of acquiring Alzheimer's. Furthermore, due to the positive impact coffee has on generating dopamine in the brain, the risk of developing Parkinson's is lowered in coffee drinkers by as much as 60%.
5. Coffee Has Positive Effects on the Liver
For reasons that are still unknown, studies show that people who drink 4 cups or more of coffee per day can lower their risk of developing cirrhosis of the liver by as much as 80%. This does not apply to Irish coffees, however.
With so many health benefits, you don't have to worry about drinking coffee. In fact, buying whole bean coffee in bulk might be one of the best things you can do for your health.
