Technology is progressing at a fast pace, regularly converting every science fiction into truth. Beacon Technology is one of those technological improvements that were once a daydream of the fantasy of a lot of investigators. Let us have a glance at how beacon technology is expanding and developing our business world.

What is a Beacon?
A Beacon is a small, battery-powered, wireless, affordable sensor with already manufactured Bluetooth chip device that works on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). It allows Bluetooth enabled devices to accept data within short distances. Beacon device is created in such a way that it is convenient to fix at any place and can be comfortably used by everyone. It deliberately broadcasts a radio signal, and when a device obtain this signal it reads the beacon's ID and generates the action in the smart phone app established on the contiguity of the beacon. The ability to “wake up" an app makes a beacon technology distinctive from others and this has been downloaded on the Smartphone at the time of manufacture.

Deep Dive into Beacon Technology:
A numerous number of beacons use BLE technology / Bluetooth Smart Technology as it needed low energy utilization and less application amount. The technology only allows for limited number of data transportation, and this is the cause why many of the beacons only transfer their IDs.

Beacon IDs Consists of three Values:
• Universally unique identifier (UUID)
• Major value
• Minor value
The main reason of transmitting the ID is to differentiate a beacon from all other beacons in a network. Major and Minor values are the integer characters authorize to the beacon, for higher efficiency in recognition. Beacon also bears data about its signal power to regulate the adjacency of the source.

Ibeacon is a brand name created by Apple Inc. that was first conferred at the World Wide Developer's Conference in 2014 as part of Apple's iOS 7. It is a machinery modernization of Apple that has been achieved in the location structure in iOS 7 and latest operating systems. As described above, Software for Ibeacon uses BLE technology to sense proximity and impart a UUID. This will generate an action in an appropriate app or operating system.

Beacons Empowered & Smart Retail:
With this radical growth in beacon technology, companies are spending in this to develop higher earnings or revenues. The swiftly developing e-Commerce industry has resulted in the reduction of footfall and in-store sales for both the small-time retailers and big brands. In-stores have accepted that they have to mime e-commerce in the field of personalized offers and shopping involvements. Thus, retail is a crucial place where beacons are expected to bring great impact from closeness marketing to contactless payments to in-store data. This also has Apple nearby Notification. These beacons send location consciousness alerts, updates on merchandise/products, and advertising messages to attract a customer. This will help in making critical agreements on product presentation.
