I remember my very first Go kart. It was made of wood and had some metal handlebars and a push mower, as it is a main frame component. I and my grandpa put it together.

My grandpa had a farm so anything that I can find sitting around makes sense. He gave me many lawnmowers and the goal was to make a go kart within three days.

Well the attempt was pretty lofty to commence with. I did make some headway, but it was quite late when three days were up. We handled the scrape together to have a go kart frame, but the engine part of the lawnmower was tough and elusive.

The bottom line is, it’s been three years since that attempt and my grandpa now passed away, and the frame was still there until I came up with a strategy and stick to it.

What would I have done if I had the plan before! The go kart plan is so important for transforming your go kart fantasies into reality as the following things can keep you in the dark:

Center of Gravity Placement

Go-kart Frame

Go-Kart Drive Line

Very frequently we may get some of the pieces working, or partially working and then have to scrap the entire project as we don’t think about it properly. This is where a strategy regarding the difficult aspects for you comes into play.

If you are looking for dirt bikes for sale or making your own go kart, you might require a good go kart plan and look at what is wrong with the steering, frame work, drive line and brakes before you commence welding the stuffs together. Often, the go kart might work, but will steer funny and tend to go straight. Or the clutch will smoke as the drive line wasn’t matched properly to the engine, the clutch and the rear sprocket.

The steering of the go-kart may have an Ackerman style system where the wheels are designed to move at various rates to accommodate the right tracking arc for the best performance. Moreover, the steering should be with such a mechanism that it is tucked away and doesn’t interfere with the foot pedals. Often go kart lovers looking for cheap pit bikes for sale may miss this point and end up having the throttle and brake pedals interlocking with the steering linkage, causing an unsafe directional control issue.

Finally, a sound brake system is required to stop the go kart. You may smack into a bush or a fence and you’d had wished that you have taken the advice in installing good brakes. Don’t take brakes lightly, since stopping the go kart is more than just jamming a stick into the ground. There are different kinds of brake systems you can try.
